My New Rain Companion

So, I searched Betsey's website like two weeks ago to spot this lovely blue tinted rose printed raincoat! OMG, it's so outrageous, spontaneous, and absolutely loud! But wait, thats not the best part. When I looked at the price of it on the Betsey Johnson site, it was retailing for $200, but when I visited Nordstrom, it was only $98! Can you say steal?! I'm so ready to tackle these April showers now!

It's supposed to be arriving on Friday, so I shall post a pic of me wearing it soon! (wink, wink. It's supposed to rain ALL weekend! YES!)

HAPPY BETSEY, HAPPY SPRING! :-)

Betsey Scarves!

I must admit, when I first saw these scarves featured on Betsey's site, I didn't think they looked all that great on the Betsey models. I honestly thought they looked mediocre and very similar to scarves that I can purchase at a Forever 21 or something. But then, ofcourse I visited the store, as I always do, and I noticed that the texture, material, and print of these scarves are definately one of a kind. As soon as a wrapped one around me, I knew I had to have one. Sure their pretty pricey, but hey, its BETSEY! You know she makes things in limited edition. Anywho, I'm really digging the new Wild flower one for the spring! ;)

Who is Betsey Johnson?

Some call her weird, obnoxious, and over the top. Well, guess what?

She totally is!

And these qualities of Betsey are in fact what reeled me in to becoming the big fan that I currently am of Betsey and her whimsical designs. The child-like nature and quality of her works including jewelry, handbags, cocktail and special event dresses, as well as cardigans and jackets, have had me hooked for about 2 years now.

Since the 1960's, the talented Betsey Johnson has been designing her unique designs which tend to adjust with the fashion trends, but at the same time keep a timeless nature. Like most successful people, Betsey's idea didn't start as the elaborate business it is today. Originally born in Conneticut, Betsey began dancing at a tender age and grew a love for costume design and all that it entails. This interest and infatuation with costuming sparked the soon to be empire composed of over the top, and edgy designs.

"In 1964, Betsey officially entered the New York fashion scene by winning Mademoiselle magazine’s “Guest Editor Contest.” "

This occurance laid down the foundation of Betsey's evergrowing career in the Fashion world.

In my opinion, Betsey redefines the potential of Fashion, and reiterates the idea that fashion can in fact be fun, frivolous, and youthful. She breaks the barriers of simplicity, and everyone wearing her fashions is instantly turned into a Betsey girl, bursting with a fresh energy. (At least that's how I always feel. ;)
